Charlotte Gainsbourg

Charlotte Gainsbourg is a French actress born in 1971. At the age of 13 she made her first foray into acting in Elie Chouraqui’s Love Songs. In 1986, she earned her first César Award for Most Promising Actress in Claude Miller’s An Impudent Girl. In the same year, she starred in her father Serge Gainsbourg’s Charlotte for Ever. She went on starting in different films by A-list filmmakers; Andrew Birkin, Franco Zeffirelli, Yvan Attal, Alejandro G. Iñarritu, Michel Gondry, Todd Haynes, Julie Bertuccelli, Olivier Nakache, and Eric Toledano. In 2009, she received the Cannes Best Actress award for her role in Antichrist. Widely perceived as Gainsbourg’s directorial debut, Jane by Charlotte was an Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021.
