Cinegouna 2018 Winner Soad Announced in the Official Selection of the 73rd Cannes Film Festival

Following the footsteps of GFF’s film selections at international film festivals; Ayten Amin’s feature narrative Soad was announced as part of the official lineup of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival.

Directed by Ayten Amin and produced by Mark Lotfy, Mohamed Hefzy and Dora Bouchoucha; the film follows 11-year-old Rabab who is determined to understand why her 19-year-old sister, Soad, committed suicide.

Soad was part of CineGouna Springboard’s films in post- production selection at the 2nd edition of GFF, where it won several awards and grants including; $10,000 from Eagle Films, $15,000 from New Century and $15,000 from Synergy Films.

Soad is among a lineup of 56 movies that were officially selected to carry the 2020 Cannes label at forthcoming film festivals and screenings. The announcement was made by festival president Pierre Lescure and general delegate Thierry Frémaux following the cancelation of the events of the 73rd edition of the festival due to the coronavirus pandemic.
