Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory was definitely the biggest winner at the 34th Goya Awards. The Time Magazine Best Film of the Year 2019, took home seven Goya Awards, out of a total of 15 nominations, including; Best Actor for Antonio Banderas, Best Director for Almodovar, Best Supporting Actress for Julieta Serrano, Best Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Original Music.
Pain and Glory was among GFF 2019 Official Selection Out of Competition line-up. The movie is a favourite winner among the Academy Award nominations where it is selected as the Spanish entry for Best International Feature Film, and Banderas is nominated for Best Actor.
The movie made its international debut at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where it was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or, and won Best Actor for Banderas and Best Soundtrack for Alberto Iglesias.
