GFF 2019 Winners Among the Nominees of the 4th ACC Critics Awards for Arab Films

The Arab Cinema Center (ACC) has announced the final list of nominees for the 4th edition of the Critics Awards for Arab Films.

The ACC nominees list gathers a total of nine films; five of which premiered regionally and were among the award winners at the 3rd edition of GFF. El Gouna Golden Star for Documentary winner Talking About Trees and El Gouna Silver Star for Documentary winner 143 Sahara Street are both nominated for Best Documentary. El Gouna Golden Star for Feature Narrative winner You Will Die at Twenty is nominated for Best Film and Best Screenplay, while El Gouna Bronze Star for Feature Narrative winner Adam is nominated for Best Film, Best Director for Maryam Touzani, and both leading stars Lubna Azabal and Nissrine Erradi are nominated for Best Actress. Also nominated for Best Actress is Hend Sabry for her role in Noura’s Dream; for which she received El Gouna Star for Best Actress.

This year, ACC appointed American film critic Deborah Young as the Manager of the Critics Awards for Arab Films. Young served as the Jury president of the Documentary Competition during the inaugural edition of GFF.

ACC brings together 142 film critics from 57 countries under its jury committee to vote for the award winners. The final results will be announced during the upcoming edition of the Virtual Cannes Market which is set to take place from June 22 to 26, 2020.

Sami Bouajila | A Son | Tunisia

Abdullah Miniawy | Tlamess | Egypt

 

Best Screenplay:

Amjad Abu Alala, Yousef Ibrahim | You Will Die At Twenty | Sudan

Elia Suleiman | It Must Be Heaven | Palestine

Mehdi Barsaoui | A Son | Tunisia

 

Best Director:
