You Will Die At Twenty, Amjad Abu Alala’s 2019 debut feature, continues to make a splash by winning The Grand Prix at the 34^th Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) for illustrating the idea of youth as an agent of change and hope. FIFF was able to announce the winners of the three main winners of its 34^th  edition online, despite the cancellation of its public events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hailed for its emotional tale and picturesque cinematography; the movie tells the story of Muzamel, who is born cursed by a Dervish prophecy, stating that he will die at 20. When his 20^th birthday arrives, he is faced with a choice between accepting impending death and a bus to the world he is eager to experience.

Last year, the exceptional Sudanese cinematic experience left an imprint by receiving worldwide recognition. At the 76^th Venice Film Festival, it won the Luigi De Laurentiis Award and was nominated for Venice Day’s Fedeora Award for Best Film. It also won Best Screenplay and was nominated for the Tanit d’or at the 30^th Carthage Film Festival. It continued to receive a nomination for the Golden Gate Award and a Special Mention at the main competition of the 21^st Mumbai Film Festival. And won the Hamburg Producers Award at the 26^th Hamburg Film Festival.

You Will Die At Twenty was also part of the Feature Narrative Competition at the 3^rd edition of El Gouna Film Festival, where it won El Gouna Golden Star for Feature Film.
