Les Misérables, Parasite and Papicha Win Big at the 45th  César Awards

GFF’s 2019 film selection continues to prove that they’re of a unique artistic formula. Following a very successful 2019 that is jam-packed with critic and audience appraisals, festival recognitions and international acclaim; the 45th César Awards comes to add seven exceptional awards to their list of accolades.

The ceremony, which took place at the Salle Pleyel in Paris to honour the best in French cinema of 2019, recognized Ladj Ly’s Les Misérables with the Audience Prize, Best Film award, Best Editing award to Flora Volpelière, and Best Male Newcomer award to Alexis Manenti. Les Misérables was the recipient of GFF’s Cinema for Humanity Audience Award.

Mounia Meddour’s Papicha, the winner of GFF’s Best Arab Film, received Best First Film award and Best Female Newcomer award to Llyna Khoudri. While Bong Joon Ho’s world-wide sensation Parasite scored Best Foreign Film award. The movie was part of GFF’s Official Selection Out of Competition.
