Very sad to say goodbye to our dear friend, and the multi-talented artist, who left our world today, at the age of 71. After quitting his medical career, Abu Auf started his long artistic path by creating timeless pieces with several bands including Les Petits Chats, Black Coat, and 4M which he established with his four sisters in the late 70’s.

In 1992, Abu Auf started his acting journey by playing Adham in Ice Cream fe Gleem with Khairy Beshara, which he then followed by several roles in films and television series. Remembering him, we can’t forget his memorable characters such as Omar Al Assyouty in Ard Al Khouf by Daouod Abdel Saied, Doctor Essam in Al Akher by Youssef Chahine, Ameel Al Banhawy in Laila Sakhina by Atef Al Tayeb, Farouk Hassouna in Tyour Al Zalam by Sherif Arafa and many more.

In addition, Abu Auf was appointed as the director of Cairo International Film Festival from 2006 till 2012. He was also one of the enthusiasts for El Gouna Film Festival, as he stated in one of his late interviews with Ain website, “El Gouna Film Festival possesses all of the success qualifications, which make it one of the best film festivals in the world, and I believe that it will be able to compete with major festivals in the next few years.”
