I've always been a producer searching for a director who has the courage to break the norms and aim to discuss the unspoken about Egyptian society. Someone who could have the interest to dig into the socio-political layers & meet with the lower classes without looking from above. And that’s why I was amazed when I first met Salah as a film fellow participating in the Cinedelta program that I founded with my colleagues in Alexandria. Mohamed Salah and I worked together on his first movie, "An Unaired Interview". There we realized that we were both sharing motivations, intentions, political views, filmmaking mindset and aesthetic choices. We're like comrades and that was shaping our producer/ director relation in a very specific way. Our first collaboration was a step forward in our film journey and it was well received by the film industry in the Berlinale forum, Cinema la verite in Iran, Fidac doc Agadir, and finally it got a special mention in Gabes cinema fan in Tunis. Personally, I met Hamdy and Nashwa 7 years ago. We met while I was doing a collaboration with the UN and we became friends. We were visiting each other's houses and meeting in Kasr El-Shouk coffee shop in Alexandria Cornish frequently. Four years ago, Salah became our companion and organically, in one of our gatherings, the four of us decided that we need to do this film. A new journey began. It's the film "The Last Man", a film about love. Could we still love in our society without being obligated to accept toxicity?
